Barton graduated from William Mitchell College of Law, St. Paul, MN, in 1990 and has over 32 years of experience. Upon graduation, he went into practice with an experienced criminal defense attorney and incorporated the firm Shaughnessy, Warren & Shaughnessy, P.A. in Minneapolis, MN, with the primary focus on criminal defense. Barton later established a practice in New Mexico, being admitted to that bar in 1995. Barton passed the Utah bar in 1997 and has since practiced solely in Utah. Barton focused his practice exclusively on criminal defense shortly after establishing himself in Utah. Barton’s experience in Utah includes Federal, state, juvenile, and justice court appearances, including numerous successful felony jury trials.
